Kereval has been selected along with 37 partners to improve and facilitate the exchange of healthcare data within the European Union, as part of the European i2X project. The aim of this project is to demonstrate the concrete and sustainable implementation of the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (also known as EEHRxF or X-Format) in 14 healthcare establishments (including the CHU of Bordeaux and GHBA Vannes) in 12 Member States, through 35 demonstrators in real-life conditions. This European format is crucial for sharing health data to improve individual care and facilitate public health policy development, research and innovation.

i2X is a practical implementation project, experimenting with the European health data format in real clinical environments. The demonstrators will prove that EEHRxF can improve health and care pathways at European level, without imposing additional burdens on healthcare professionals or systems.

Kereval will provide the consortium with its interoperability expertise to set up an interoperability test laboratory, in compliance with European EHDS regulations. This will involve defining test strategies, test plans and test tools to support demonstrations in real-life contexts.

Test events such as projectathons will also be organized to promote demonstrations.

Another objective of the i2X project is to develop “intelligent” patient data processing bricks using artificial intelligence. Kereval will contribute its AI expertise in two areas: the use of language processing to extract information from unstructured data, and the testing of the AI bricks developed, in line with AI Act compliance.

Over the next four years, 12 EU member states, including Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and Spain, will participate. Most will be developing demonstrators, with AI-based technologies. At least 1,200 healthcare professionals are expected to be involved with demonstration sites, and more than 3 million European citizens will benefit from the project’s activities.

Expected impact:

– Up to 80% improvement in the availability of high-quality structured health data in electronic medical records, both nationally and internationally.

– 75% increase in patient access to their health data.

i2X represents a major step towards a unified digital health future for Europe, where structured, interoperable health data strengthens needs, supports professionals and leads to better health outcomes for all.
